We believe, teach, and confess that the natural knowledge which man has about God is imperfect and insufficient for salvation. One can acquire correct, saving knowledge only through the Holy Scripture, in which the true God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—has thus revealed Himself and wants to be worshiped. Any other worship is idolatry and an abomination to the Lord. Bible References: Romans 1:19-20; 2:14-15; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 5:23; 1 Corinthians 8:4-8. |
We believe, teach and confess that mankind was created by God according to His divine image, which consisted of blessed knowledge of God, perfect righteousness, and holiness. This image was lost with the fall into sin. Now, human beings are born with original sin, that is, the sin we inherited from Adam. This sin is the total corruption of all human nature, now deprived of original righteousness. This sin entails a propensity toward all evil and is subject to damnation.
